{"id":1139,"date":"2020-10-08T20:00:50","date_gmt":"2020-10-08T19:00:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/178.62.63.227\/dj\/?p=1139"},"modified":"2020-11-26T22:37:51","modified_gmt":"2020-11-26T22:37:51","slug":"threads-08-10-20-we-have-sound-20-10","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/francisredman.com\/dj\/2020\/10\/08\/threads-08-10-20-we-have-sound-20-10\/","title":{"rendered":"Threads 08.10.20 \u2013 We Have Sound 20.10"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mixcloud.com\/widget\/iframe\/?hide_cover=1&amp;light=1&amp;feed=%2FThreadsRadio%2Fwe-have-sound-w-francis-redman-08-oct-20%2F\" width=\"100%\" height=\"120\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Slow days.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Despite my wondering as to how not having a Notting Hill Carnival as a last hurrah might affect the <a href=\"http:\/\/178.62.63.227\/dj\/2020\/05\/21\/threads-21-05-20-we-have-sound-20-5\/\">feeling of sudden change<\/a> as we moved out of Summer, and despite a teasing weekend of unseasonal blistering heat, it feels we have very much arrived in Autumn \u2013 albeit a very different one than usual.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The anticipation of approaching cosy sheltered social activities that usually accompany the shortening of the days has been replaced by a now too familiar uncertainty of encroaching solitude. Football is back, but behind closed doors \u2013 and the clubbing and event season that usually coincides with its return has not found a way to operate without audiences.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The season also often brings about lots of new music, this year has been no exception. In fact it seems in more abundance than ever. Perhaps I am making connections that are not there, or being a fantasist, but I feel that consciously or unconsciously the art has responded collective uncertainty and instability.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Music I often think provides a slow communication; both in creation and listening it allows us to express things too intangible, or too animal for words. Radio provides us a way to do this collectively when we are remote in time or place.
